Tropical Blooms with Kate Hadfield Designs

Hello everyone!  I can't believe it's almost May already!  Because things
are starting to grow and blossom, I'm bringing you more floral goodness from

Tropical Blooms

I love flowers and I especially love to color them - particularly when they
are free!  This was a set I was able to download on my computer as a
perk for signing up to receive The Doodled Newsletter - sign up is at
the bottom of the homepage.  Kate's art make coloring fun and easy!
Let me show you how I made my card!  I started by composing the
design in my computer.  I used a piece of digital paper from my digital
paper stash and then layered my flowers over it.

Each flower, leaf cluster and curly-que are separate stamps making
it easy to compose a design.

I wanted to keep my colors bright so they would pop against the
black background.

I, unfortunately, threw away the list with my marker colors on it...😬
but I used YG for the greens, B for the blues and Y for the yellows and
R for the pinks.

For the leaves and flowers I used a 3-color blend.

I inked a checkerboard around the center of what will become
the blue flower.  It gives the card a sense of playfulness.

Once the coloring was done, I used a silver glitter pen and did the
squiggly vines and dotted the centers of the yellow and blue flowers.
I die cut this panel with a large scalloped/stiched oval die.  I chose
a warm grassy green and a yellow to complement the colors of
the design.  The green was the A2 size card base and I cut the
yellow panel 1/4" smaller and then embossed it with a dotted
embossing folder.

I layered the yellow onto the green and then popped up the focal panel
with foam tape.  The dots in the background were grey and white, so
I added iridescent bubbles to the white ones.  I also added more
checkerboard design on some of the leaf sections.  I used thin black
peel-offs between the yellow and green and added a black checked bow.
And that finished my project!

I hope I've inspired you today to sign up for Kate's newsletter and
receive the freebies there!  You can find so many other stamp sets
in lots of different themes at

Til next time...
