Spring Bouquet ft. Kate Hadfield Designs

 

 

Hello everyone!  Spring is on its way and I am so glad.  Winter

seemed especially gray and dark this year.  To make my

center cut-away card I'll be using products from

Kate Hadfield Designs

Hoppy Easter stamp set

 This is a very versatile set with lots of images.  Let me show you how I 

made this fun fold card! 

I started by composing my images.  I copied and pasted the grass

stamp several times.  I printed this out onto white card stock.

 

 

Next I took a 6 ½” x 5” white notecard and cut away 1 ¼” on

each side of the front.  This leaves a nice 4” center panel on the

base to put the focal on.

 

 

At this point I die cut my image with a 3 ½” x 4 ½” fancy

rectangle die.  Then I chose my papers.  I needed 2 that went

well together.  I chose the blue for the center panel because

I didn’t want to color the background of my image.  And having

a blue panel underneath gives the idea of sky on a spring day!

I deliberately chose the plaid paper with a “Spring” color palette.

 

 

I started my coloring by identifying the main colors and placement.

I color matched to the plaid paper.

 

 

The coloring was really quite quick.  I did 2, 3 and 4 color blends

for the elements.

 

 

This image colored up nicely and it looked really good with the

plaid paper.  At this point, I covered the center panel on the card 

base with the blue and the side panels plaid.  My side panels

were only about 1/8” underneath the center flap.

 

The side pieces of plaid paper could be edged with a cute

edge die.

For embellishments I adhered tiny yellow flowers amongst

the grass with Stickles in the centers along with some green twine. 

 And I  placed 3 tiny butterfly sequins around the flowers in the can.  I

 did not add a sentiment, but this could be used as a get well card

and so many other occasions.  I foam taped the focal to the center

blue panel of the card.

 

 

This card project worked up quite quickly.  With only a smaller

focal, the card base and papers did the rest of the work!  I hope

I’ve inspired you to try making one of these side cut-away cards.

Winter Hellebores ft/ Kate Hadfield Designs

 

Hello everyone!  I hope it’s not too cold where

 you are!  But, just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can’t 

send  a beautiful winter floral card!

Winter Flora Digital Stamp Set

I love this floral set so much.  It's great for any season but

today I've used the Hellebores from the set.  These flowers

seem to love the cold and bloom in the winter outside!  Let

me show you how I created my card project.

 

This is a cut-away card.  I started with a 5” x 6 ½”

white card base.  I cut away 2 ½” on the front right side.

I chose my background paper.  I liked that it had

detail down the sides.  I printed out my focal panel after

composing it in the computer onto white card stock.  Then

I cut it with a cutting die that looked really nice with

the overall card.

 

 

I cut my patterned paper into 2 sections.  The first was for

the left side.  

 

                                             The second bigger panel was for the inside.  These

panels were ¼” less than the card base.

 

 I spent quite a bit of time composing the flowers and greenery.

I like the elements I chose and by twisting and turning I

really liked how it came out.

 

 I Google Imaged Hellebore and found a photo of them.  They

were blue violet, red violet and violet.  I colored the smallest

flower with the blue violet palette.  The biggest flower I used

the red violet.  And the top one I used straight violet.

 

 These are the 3 colored.  I was pleased with how they looked!

Sometimes violets can be a bit challenging in the alcohol

marker world.  I did use a different brand for some of the

violets.

 

My focal panel is all colored.  I used shades of green for

most of the leaves and berries, changing up the blends. I

also intended to back this focal panel with the purple card

stock in the photo.

 

I used Frosted Lace Stickles on the berries and the tips of

the leaves and the tips of the petals.  This gives a hint of frostiness

to the plants.  I cut the purple cardstock to about ¼”

bigger than the focal panel and rounded the corners.  I adhered 

the focal panel to the purple panel with foam tape.  Then I 

adhered it to the left hand side of the card only.  For a finishing 

touch I used very narrow purple peel-offs down on each side of the

background paper.  And that finished my project!

 

 

I’m loving how this card turned out.  It was a bigger card than I

normally make, but I love the result.  I have been trying to make

bigger cards…not the same size I always use.  I hope you give this

card a try.  I didn’t use a greeting on my card, but it could be used

for many different occasions.
