Hello everyone!  Hope your summer is warm and fun!  Today

I'll be sharing a card using products from

Polkadoodles

Blooms Butterfly Bundle

This is a great way to use one digital stamp and yet make them

look completely different from each other!  Let me show you

how I made my card.  I first sort of composed my 3 butterflies.

I copied and pasted these.  I computer journaled the sentiment

and chose a font that I thought would match with the vibe I

was trying to create.

I started by coloring up the butterflies.  I Google-Imaged butterflies for

color inspiration.  Knowing that blue and orange are complimentary colors

on the color wheel, I chose to go with blue and orange.

I started by coloring a monarch butterfly using deep yellows and

oranges.

This next one really went well with the other 2 butterflies.  I

would later darken the edges of this one with black.

This one worked up easily as there weren't as many colors.  Later

on I defined the lines of the wings with a fine black marker.  Next

I had to find some matching paper.  I didn't have anything in mind,

but I saw this golden yellow piece in a 6 x 6 pad and it looked really

good with the butterflies.  

I knew I wanted my butterflies mounted on white.  I used a 3D

embossing folder and embossed a 2 1/8" strip.  Some of the

flowers of the embossing folder looked a lot like some of the

flowers in the paper.  I backed it with black card stock for a narrow

frame of black to help it stand out from the yellow.  

I die cut the sentiments with a narrow sentiment die, cut it to size and 

backed it with the same black card stock.  I fussy cut the butterflies and

edged them with a black marker.  Putting together the finished card

wasn't hard at all!  I put a foam square behind each butterfly body

and mounted them in the spaces created by adhering my 2 sentiment

strips.  I added shimmer to the butterflies and some white gel pen

and that finished my card!

I was waffling about where to place the white strip and thought that

maybe it would look better on the left side, but I really prefer it down

rainy where I live...😞. Today I'm sharing a project made with products from

Polkadoodles

Just Lovely Sentiments

I made an easel card today to show off Honeypie and her kitty.  It's not difficult

to make, so let me show you how I made my card!

I first composed and printed out my images onto white card stock.

Everything was separate.  I didn't do any layering.  I die cut my plaid

paper with a scalloped rectangle die.  I made a white A2 size top folding

card base and scored the front of it in half.  I cut my die cut plaid panel in half

and adhered one on either side of the fold on the front.

I also cut out my sentiment and backed it with a piece of the left over

plaid.  Next it was time to color my focal - Honeypie and her kitty!

Coloring is probably my most favorite part of card making!  And I

aways start with the face first.

The hair came next.  Often times I'll Google image "hair Copic

markers" for inspiration like I did here.  That gives me a 

jumping off point for the hair coloring.  And usually there is

a list of markers that were used.

I wanted to keep her clothing and hair scrunchies the same colors

as the plaid paper.  To give a little more interest to the scrunchies I

made a pattern with my markers.

I didn't go too wild with the coloring and it worked up quickly.  After

that, I fussy cut the image.

I printed out another sentiment and die cut it for the front of the

card.  To put this together I adhered the longer unmatted sentiment

to the front of the card with foam tape.  I die cut a small lavender

bow and adhered it above that sentiment.  I adhered Honeypie to just the 

front of my card, so that when it was popped up, you would see

her whole image.  I adhered the other sentiment that I had backed

with the plaid paper, inside the card with foam tape to act as a

stopper when the card was put upright.  I added a bit of shimmer with

a silver sparkle pen and added a few dots with a white gel pen.  Then I 

sprinkled a few tiny gems around Honeypie and one right in the

middle of the flower in her mug.  And that finished my card!

Wanda & Her Soda ft. Polkadoodles

 

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all doing well and enjoying spring

as it makes it way to warmer days.  I'm sharing a fun project with you

today featuring products from

This made such a cute scene featuring Wanda!  I really wanted Wanda

to pop and not get lost in the scenery.  So I amped up the brightness of

the colors on Wanda and kept the background fairly light.  Let me show

you how I made my card.

I composed my card in the computer and placed Wanda and the

sentiment on as well.  I printed it out onto white card stock and then

I die cut it using a rectangle die from my stash.  I started by coloring

the sky and the water.

I laid in more light colors to the background and then I focused on

Wanda.  I imagined Wanda as a sassy redhead and went from there.

I did draw a pencil line between the park scene and the sentiment.  I

knew I would be covering up the line and it gave me a good guideline

as to how far down my coloring needed to go.  I finished up the coloring

and kept going until I felt it was done.  I placed a black peel-off between

the sentiment and the scene.  I added Stickles to Wanda's Drink, the

flower in her hair and the flower on the right.  I also added some random

dots in the water and grasses and a few around the sentiment.  Using

a scalloped rectangle die, I die cut my background paper and adhered it

to my white card base, then added the main panel.  I added Glossy Accents

to her shoes and that completed my card!

The Painter ft. Polkadoodles

 

Hello everyone!  Spring is here and it's time to tackle all those household

projects - like painting!  Today I'll be using products from

Polkadoodles

Let's Hang Out Paper 1

Do you have a guy in your life who does everything?  Doesn't he deserve

card to let him know how special he is?  Let me show you how I made my

project.  I started by composing my image onto the digital paper in the

computer.  I also used a patterned piece of digital paper so I could paper

 piece the wallpaper.

I changed the color of the background paper to tan in the computer.  That small

strip on the bottom is the patterned paper for the wallpaper paper piecing.

To paper piece, I first print out the image in black and white onto copy

paper.

Then, using washi tape, I adhered the patterned paper to the area where

the wallpaper rolls were and sent it through my printer again.

I fussy cut the wallpaper rolls right up to the edges and then used a black

marker along the edges before adhering it to the card stock piece.

And it will fit perfectly over the uncolored wallpaper!

Next on to the coloring.  I kept things pretty simple and used the

wallpaper colors to determine my color palette.

I always like to color the face first.  It makes the rest of the coloring make

more sense somehow.  You'll notice that I extended his mouth a bit to make

it look like he's smiling...well, a half of a smile...LOL!

There's not a lot to color so this worked up quite quickly.  Even

before I finished the coloring I decided to die cut it using a die from

my stash.  Once the coloring was done, I splattered this panel

heavily using 3 dye ink colors that matched the wallpaper.  I also used a

small paintbrush and swiped ink on his clothing and face so it

looked like paint.  Once the coloring was done, I adhered the panel

onto some coordinating blue card stock and then used Glossy

Accents on the paint - the paint on the brush cans, and some on

him as well.  Once that was dry my card was finished!

Paper Piecing ft. Polkadoodles

 

Hello everyone!  Flowers are the epitome of Spring!  So

today I'm bringing you a card using products from

Polkadoodles

Alcea Hollyhock Flowers

I love paper piecing - especially with flower images.  There

are many others to choose from this collection as well!  Let

me show you how I made my card.

I started by printing out my white card stock which would be

my focal piece.  Then, I printed it out onto copy paper and then

printed it out 2 more times by taping patterned paper over the

design.

I also computer journaled the sentiment onto the light pink paper.

Time to start the coloring.  I used my Copic markers for this project

and felt that it would be best to do the coloring first.  I started

with the green leaves, buds and stems.

I started lightly and then went darker.

I wanted my coloring to be a bit dramatic so I kept going darker

and darker with the greens.

Next I fussy cut each of the flowers on the pink papers.  I started

with the light pink first.  

I also went around the edges with a black marker.

I went around the design and finished cutting out the flowers using

the dark or light pink.  I adhered these to the white panel when they

had all been cut out and edged with the black marker.

At this point I decided to add a touch of shading coming out of the

center of each flower.  I then die cut the panel to give a more fancy

edge.  Once the panel was die cut and I adhered a piece of green

card stock to my white card base, I used a metallic gold pen and

filled in the stamen bits in each flower.

I then die cut my sentiment and trimmed off the edges to fit where I

wanted it to go.

As a final embellishment I adhered some tiny gemstones around the

flower cluster and that finished my card!

I hope you enjoyed todays tutorial.  I love paper piecing and actually

this was how I made my very first card using digital stamps!  It

Hello everyone!  Hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to

a sunny spring!  Today I'm bringing you a cute card made with

products from

Cute Chick with Umbrella Digital Stamp

Easter Greetings

Pretty Spring Papers

This card was so easy to make!  And there are lots of papers and greetings

to choose from.  Let me show you how I made my card!  I

composed my images on the computer.  I decided to use 2 pieces

of the patterned paper and a partial sentiment.

I decided I wanted the umbrella to be the same plaid as the bottom

of the card.  So I actually cut an extra piece of the plaid paper and

taped it to the front of the image.  Then I sent the image back

through the printer.

I carefully cut out the umbrella and used a black marker around the

edge of it.  Next it was time to color this sweet image.

There really isn't too much to color with this image.  And I kept

things pretty simple.  I adhered the umbrella piece.

I decided to use this cute flower embellishment right over the flower

already on the umbrella.  I colored in basically the edges of the flower

on the umbrella and the 3D one fit on there nicely.

Copic colors used:  Y15, Y35, Y28, Y38, YR15, YR07, YR23,

E15, E18, BG10, BG13, BG23, RV13, Y02

I die cut my sentiment with a banner die and realized it was too long

for where I wanted to put it.  I cut off the ends and saved them to

use as little flags along the top right of the panel.  Then I snipped

the sentiment apart.  I colored them with the Y02 Copic marker and

popped them up on foam tape.  I added an enamel dot at the top

of the umbrella, and little clear gems on the umbrella itself.  I

added some yellow Stickles to the center of the flower and some

white peel-offs edged with gold where the 2 papers meet and along

the sides of the little flags to which I also added 2 tiny gems.

I mounted the main panel onto pink and then blue card stock and

layered them together on the card base and my card was done!
