July 2020 Jan's Digistamps Challenges

Hello everyone!  A new month has started and it's time for a new challenge at

Today I'm using:

This is a beautiful stamp set with various Wild Flower Blossoms and sentiments.
Let me show you how I created my card.

This truly ended up being a literal cut and paste project for me!  One thing after
another kept altering my original plan!  But, I just had to roll with it!  Forgive
the process pictures that don't match the finished project.
First, I printed out my image and sentiment onto parchment card stock that
I purchased at a local office supply store.
Next I colored my image with Copic markers.

Note in this picture the centers are yellow.  In my finished project they are a
warm gray.  I'll give you the colors for both ways.

I kept the coloring to a minimum as I wanted to keep the look simple.

Colors used the first time:

Flowers:  R11, R81, R85
Centers: W2, W3, W5, W7
Leaves/Stems: YG03, YG17, YG63, YG67, Y28

Second time coloring:

Flowers: R00, R81, R85
Centers:  Y02, Y21, Y28
Leaves/Stems: Same

I finished coloring my image and I was going to use it on a narrow card - sort
of the idea of a slimline but a bit smaller.  I ended up cutting it too close to the
edge...and I couldn't save it.  I didn't throw it away, but started the process again.
I decided to amend my color palette a bit and I liked the outcome much better.
I cut it so I could have a panel that was 3 1/2" wide and I could mount that on
an A2 size top folding card, which I did.  I added thin black peel-offs to either
side for a bit of definition.  It still needed "something".
Then I thought that ifI added some Perfect Pearls in Blush on the ends of the flower
petals, it would be subtle but pretty.  I had a Perfect Medium pen and I used it on the top
most flower. The way the paper is made, to get that parchment look, I think that there are
perhaps thicker and thinner parts in the paper.  The Perfect Medium pen turned
the paper kind of gray and the Perfect Pearls didn't hide it.  You could see it
no matter what kind of lighting.  I was not going to start all over again!  What
a frustrating day.  Then I remembered I still had the first version with the bad cutting
job.  I simply fussy cut the flowers and foam taped them over the existing ones.
I added a bit of shimmer pen to the centers, and added a few gold glitter enamel
dots and called this card done!

I was ok with the final version and Jan's images are so spectacular that it's hard
not to have a great result!

Have you entered our challenges before?  They are so fun!  There are 2 ways

  5. Your card was hands down my fav from all the DT cards, including my own! I was so surprised to read that this card fought you all the way! LOL I wish the cards that fight me turned out as pretty as yours!!! I love the design with the narrow but tall panel for your focal based on Jan's pretty image. So glad you were able to save this card and have it turn out to be such a stunner! 💗

  6. Thanks Karen...it was just one thing after another! There was a lot of Plan B going on. I like the tall middle panel as well...I seem to be doing that a lot lately but it's a great way to showcase a narrower focal. Jan's images are just so gorgeous...hard to really mess them up bad! ;)
