Berry Basket with Brutus Monroe

Hello everyone!  Hope everyone is doing well and staying cool!  Today I'm
bringing you this fun project using products from

This was fun to create and don't those strawberries look delicious?  I could
eat them all - LOL!  Let me show you how I made my card.  Using Lunch Bag
card stock, I stenciled a 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" square using a mix of Velveteen
Glazes in Pink, Green, and Yellow.  I first mixed the Pink and Green fully
expecting it to be some shade of brown...it wasn't!  It was a shade of purple.
So, time to add the Yellow and I added it to the Pink and Green mix until I
was sure I had some sort of brown mix going.

Pretty sludgy looking.  😟   But, I set it aside to dry and continued like it
was going to come out fine.  In the meantime, I chose a piece of paper from
the Strawberry Social Paper Collection.  Such pretty patterns!  I took the
piece that had the big ripe berries all over it and fussy cut them out.  It took
a little while, but they were fairly easy to cut out.  I left my stenciled
piece overnight to dry.  Imagine my surprise when it came out like this!

This came out such a beautiful shade of dark brown!  To make the basket
I trimmed down the height to 3 1/2".  I trimmed the sides so the top would be
just slightly wider than the bottom.  I inked blended the sides with
Simon Hurley's new ink color Weeping Willow.  Using a piece of scrap
Lunch Bag I cut a piece about an 1" wide that would fit across the top
of the basket.  I ink blended it with the same Weeping Willow, made a
few wood marks with a brown Copic marker and adhered little nail
heads across the top.

I decided at this point that my card needed to be 5" x 7".  I cut a panel of
Lunch Bag card stock that was 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".  Using the Weeping Willow, I ink
blended across the bottom and up both sides.

I mounted it on some cranberry card stock that was 1/4" bigger and then mounted
the whole thing on a white 5 x 7 card base.  I cut the base of the basket on an
angle so it could be tipped up a bit.  I applied liquid glue to the bottom of the
basket and then used foam tape for the top.  I then arranged my strawberries
as if they were tumbling out of the berry basket.  Some of the underneath ones
I used liquid glue and for all the other I used foam tape.

 I stamped out my
sentiment from the Strawberry Social Stamp set on a piece of scrap Lunch Bag.

I fussy cut the image and used foam tape.  The only embellishments I used were
some tiny red stars.  And that finished my card!

This was different than most of my other cards and so much bigger
then I had originally intended!  But it all works and I love how it
turned out!  You can find the Strawberry Social Collection of
