It's All About the Rainbow with Brutus Monroe!

Hello everyone!  Hope you are all doing well today as we continue with our
sheltering-at-home.  Today I'm sharing a project made with a variety of
Brutus Monroe products.  The idea was to create a rainbow!  I love me a
good rainbow - so I was excited! 😊

To begin, I stamped out 3 of the butterfly images from the Butterfly Sentiments
stamp set.  I had a clear idea in my head (not always the case!) of what I wanted
this card to look like and I wanted to use the Metallic Aqua Pigments.  I am a
traditional watercolorist (in my spare time!!!) and these pigments work a bit
differently than traditional pan watercolors.  The trick is not to add water!  They
are already liquid so just a damp brush works great.
I started my project at night...not the greatest time for pictures, but I was just
itching to try them on my project.  So, using Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink I
stamped out the 3 butterflies that I wanted to use onto hot press watercolor paper 3
times for a total of 9 butterflies.  I tried my first butterfly using Rose Aqua Pigments
towards the center and Marigold on the outer part of the wings.

These Metallic Aqua Pigments blend like a dream!  I was so pleased with how the
first butterfly painted up!  I fussy cut it out when it was dry.
So my plan was to have my butterflies fluttering up my card in rainbow order. So,
my first butterfly was Lilac middle, Rose edges, then the Rose middle, Marigold
edges, next Marigold middle, Gilded edges, next Gilded middle, lime green (I mixed
this color with Cactus and Sunflower) edges, next lime green middle, Cactus
edges, next Cactus middle, Delphinium edges, next Delphinium middle, Lilac
edges and finally another Lilac middle with Rose edges.  I had an extra one that I
painted Lilac in the middle with Delphinium edges that I eventually put
inside my card.  This really didn't take that much time and they dry quite quickly.

I then fussy cut them leaving a narrow white margin. I also went over the bodies of
the butterflies with a black marker to define them a bit more.

I decided to use White Wash card stock.  This is my new
favorite white card stock.  It's white, but heathered.  There are little fibers all through it
much like you find on kraft card stock.  It's beautiful and a wonderful alternative to
regular plain white.  I cut a panel that was 4" x 5 1/4" and embossed it with the

I adhered this panel with a liquid glue to an A2 size top folding card base made with the
Next I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of the White Wash card stock with the Raven
Detail ink using the CYOE (Create Your Own Ending)  Stamp Set.  I die cut it with an
oval die and foam taped it to my card in the upper left.  Then  I started adhering my
butterflies with a liquid glue in a curve up my card starting in the lower left corner. Once
they were dry I gently curved the wings up with my fingers.  And that finished
my butterfly rainbow project!

This was so much fun to make!  It was an excellent way for me to get more
familiar with the Metallic Aqua Pigments and how they work.  These Aqua Pigments
are also available as a Subscription product!  I hope you'll give
this project a try!  If you do, please tag us on your social media!  We love to
