Autumn's Butterfly and Exciting News!

Hello everyone!  Summer is winding down and fall is almost upon us.  I always think of fall as a time for new beginnings as the weather is cooling off, school is starting and we have renewed energy!

Top Flight Stamps has asked me to be on their Design Team from now until the end of the year!
I'm so excited to be a part of their talented team and I have been a fan of their stamps for several years. If you are not familiar with Top Flight Stamps, they import stamps from all over Europe.  This is awesome because not only do you have beautiful stamps and stencils from Europe, but you only pay for domestic shipping.

Today I am using this beautiful Big Butterfly from IndigoBlu.  This is a red rubber stamp and it's huge!  From wing tip to wing tip it's 5.5" long!  Sometimes big stamps scare me...they are so big!  But by only using part of the image you can still see that the image is big, but it's not overpowering!

I started by heat embossing the entire butterfly image on black watercolor paper (from Royal Talens) using Ranger Embossing Powder in Copper Tinsel.

I stamped the entire image as I didn't quite know how I was going to die cut it.  It was then time to watercolor it.  I used Iridescent Shimmering Watercolors from Creative Expressions.  I knew I wanted fall colors so I started off with gold along the middle edge blending out to violet.  I didn't like the gold.  I went over it with Marigold.  I didn't like it.  Finally I went over it all with Red Violet and I like how it came out.  At this point I was so glad I had used watercolor paper instead of just card stock!  In the center and on the tips of the wings I used Antique Blue.  I didn't like that either.  By that time I had chosen my background paper and that blue didn't look good.  I went over it with Antique Green and it was perfect. Finally! 😀

I then used another stamp set from Top Flight Stamps for the sentiment.  It came from For the Love of Stamps - Baroque Backgrounds.  I heat embossed that with Ranger Copper Super Fine Detail embossing powder.

I die cut the butterfly on an angle with my biggest oval die.  Then I went around the edges using my finger with Metallic Gilding Polish in Red Bronze from Creative Expressions.  Just for a tiny bit of sparkle - because the black was looking a bit blah, I added some violet micro bling.

I covered an A2 size card base with black card stock.  Then cut my background paper (Craft Consortium - Metal Textures) to 4" x 5.25".  I then adhered all the layers together.  I had also cut out the tip of the wing that got die cut off and adhered that to the end of the wing.
And that finished my Autumn's Butterfly card!
