Die of the Month with Brutus Monroe

 

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone's enjoying these early days of Autumn with all

of the beautiful colors!  Today I'm sharing a card that I made with

I wanted to try something a little different with this card.  Using the Die of the Month 

I cut my main image out of some Tonic Specialty paper.  Next I took a piece of toner

card stock that I made myself (using a laser printer and using a word document I

made the background completely black) and, using the Deco Foil in Peach Princess

I sent an A2 size panel though my laminator. 

Next I die cut the foiled piece.  I wanted to paper piece the roses inside the darker die cut.  I cut the actual inside/back piece of the card with a pale peach card stock.  This was cut to a standard A2 size.  I also cut a piece of acetate.  This measures 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" and scored at the 1/2" mark.

I adhered my dark brown die cut to the lower left corner of the acetate.  Then I carefully

paper pieced the foil die cut into the rose shapes.

This took patience.  It was like putting a puzzle together.  Some of the pieces were very tiny

but it die cut so beautifully and I really didn't have any problems getting the correct pieces

where they needed to go.  At this point, I was ready to adhere my back peach panel.  I felt

it was quite plain and I wanted to have just a bit of visual texture.  I finally decided to stamp

it with a script stamp from Gina K Designs.  I used a very light neutral ink.

I adhered this panel inside the fold at the top of the acetate, so the acetate with the die cuts

actually is the front of the card.  I next stamped my sentiment onto a scrap of the foiled

card stock using a black pigment ink and then heat embossed it with clear

embossing powder.

I used the coordinating die that goes with this set to cut out my sentiment.  I adhered it

to the top of the my card and that finished my project.

I was really pleased with how this project turned out.  I had never made a card with an

acetate top layer and I loved the paper piecing!
